What has your personal experience with capitalism been?
For the most part it has been positive, and unburdening as a tax paying upper-middle class citizen.
What is your relationship with capitalism?
As noted above it has been relatively positive, though admittedly, this is due to being a citizen who does not fall below the poverty line, thus I have not personally felt the economic struggles that others have.
What do you think are some alternatives to capitalism? The obvious would be socialism, or full-blown communism.
What do you think about them?
Although I do not have a problem with particular aspects of a socialist perspective (i.e the benefits of free health care, cheaper education etc.), I feel as though there must also be a sense of responsibility in regards to the level of spending being done, regardless of the area in which the particular country has distributed its’ wealth, as over-spending will undoubtedly lead to mass debt that will be virtually unrepayable.
How does capitalism influence America?
America is a country that strongly relies on its privatized industries and means of production in order to maintain economic standing amidst its obvious over-spending on their military functions, and allows for those who hold a position of either political or economic power (the 1%) to maintain their position, while perpetuating the idea that the lower class need only work harder to attain upper class status.
